Walls

We build our walls to guard our hearts. Two sides of a coin both joy and pain.
We jump to conclusions, mistakes are made, lessons learned, prices paid.
We tell ourselves we are fine alone, yet secretly we yearn to bond.
As children we love one and all. No fear of pain, betrayal unknown.
Piece by piece they chip our walls to allow our hearts to love again.
We try so hard to rebuild those walls. Our hearts and minds at war.
But once those walls are down for good, our hearts are open to explore the wonders love can bring.
