Walking in the Rain

Walking daily feel the burn, what once was joy becomes a pain.
Round and round the block we go, changing paths to change the view.
Will it rain, do I go, are questions that I ask myself. Of course, I go, I cannot not.
It starts to drizzle, I feel the mist, too far from home to avoid the rain I continue on my path.
It starts to rain, I’m water logged. Shoes are squishing, water dripping with each step I take.
With upturned face and tongue stuck out I taste the rain, remembering years gone by, when jumping in a puddle and playing in the rain was such a sheer delight.
I giggle to myself and look to see if anyone is watching. I jump in puddles and laugh out loud, feeling childish glee.
Grinning now from ear to ear I make my way back home.
What had become a pain is now a joy, my love restored by walking in the rain.
